The journey …
I had a lovely gallery. It quickly became my heartfelt darling.
In general disseminating art and culture were my metier in forms of lectures, a published book and exhibitions.
Then I injured my brain. One can say that my world was turned upside down. This meant a loving farewell to the gallery.
And right there in the midst of very challenging years, peculiar things began to happen.
Inner visions of sculptures appeared more and more frequently. Spirals and torus shapes, a natures mathematics that somehow felt important. Almost like a clue to life’s existence.
The brain experienced the world with a completely different perception than what I was used to. Everything seemed more … vibrating, practically radiating with an inherent characteristic.
Quantum physics and electromagnetism became very attractive to me. Those are difficult principles to understand when one has had a blow to the head. Well, they are also challenging when one has not … But, it was as if these subjects wanted to bridge themselves to profound philosophical questions … and to spirituality. Symmetry and geometric patterns also caught my attention more than usual. They often induced a deep inner enthusiasm while others would seem almost disturbing when looked upon. I began to take an interest in Cymatics which are the incredible patterns that arise when frequencies are sent into unorganised matter. Overall, the focal point became energy and frequencies in all aspects of life.
Here in my studio all these experiences are being transformed into sculptures … of paper. They have turned into a year-long study of the essence of energy in a curious attempt to understand the impact of energy scientifically, but also approaching it from a philosophical and spiritual point of view. At the same time the studio has become my laboratory. Here, the biology of life and physical being get the chance to reveal themselves under the stereoscope or on the cymaplate due to a deep curiosity of the coherence of everything.
